Meet Neelam Kumari

I was born and brought up in the city of London. My journey and passion for forming Conscious Kids resulted from my personal experiences twenty years ago, in my early childhood and teenage years, where I suffered from PTSD, depression, and severe panic attacks. These symptoms developed as a result of being exposed to severe emotional and physical abuse, and as a result of losing my best friend to terminal cancer, my beloved mother.

Gabor Mate, an expert in trauma, stress, and addiction, explains that having at least one empathic and understanding person at the time of the trauma (even if they cannot exactly change it) makes a lot of difference in the situation for the person experiencing trauma.

Unfortunately, although my school was aware of some of the issues I was facing in my personal life, there was no additional support for me, and I often felt very alone. I had no one to really turn to, to confide in, or properly rely on, which made the loss of my beloved mother a lot harder for me.

Around ten years ago, I decided to take ownership of my own healing journey through extensive research and experimentation into the fields of personal development and psychology. I cured myself completely from the issues I was facing as an early child, including the high levels of anxiety I would face. During this time, I was working in different fields of the corporate world after graduating as a Biomedical Scientist at the top 10 university for medicine in the UK, however, I felt deeply unsatisfied with my work. Given that life taught me at a young age how precious life is, I wanted to find something I genuinely loved to do. Despite the naysayers, I plucked up the courage and decided to go back to study again in the number one faculty in the world for studying education and society – UCL. This was a very proud moment for me. As soon as I had my first lecture and my first interaction with the children in school, I realised this was what I was born to do. I found my spark again working with children, something I hadn’t felt since losing my mother. However, through my early career in teaching in mainstream and SEN, from outstanding provisions to poor, I realised that the education system was incredibly old-fashioned, and still prioritised the outdated industrialised movement over the basic human right to education of the self. I felt sorry for the children I was teaching as a result of the personal experiences they faced, from poverty to abuse, to the extensive amounts of pressure they faced at such a young age, affecting their self-esteem. Their experiences reminded me of my own from childhood. I could relate to them. I knew these children deserved so much more from society. Every child in education does.

It became evident that my purpose was not only to help relieve children who were suffering alone, but to change how we approach education as a whole. Conscious Kids makes children’s education of self and mental health a number one priority. This, in turn, would give young children the power, knowledge, and life tools to transform their lives in any situation and become victors, but simultaneously promote, via education, the prevention of unsociable behaviour that we see so much in our world today in its current times.

I soon after dived deep into extensive research into the fields I became passionate about – Quantum Physics, The Social Engagement System, Biology, Child Development, and qualified as a Hypnotherapist, Mindset coach, and Rapid Transformational Therapy Practitioner. My research in forming the Conscious Kids Bespoke Emotional Intelligence programme was deeply inspired by some (to name a few) of the work of Jose Silva, Dr Joe Dispenza, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, A. S Neil, Vishan Lakhani, and Marissa Peer.

5 years of extensive research later, Conscious Kids Emotional Intelligence programme was created – where our ultimate goal is to be pioneers in bridging the gap between children’s mental health and education. Conscious Kids cares about the future direction of our world, and we want to contribute in creating a more conscious, healthy and united community!
